• Your brain continues firing neural connections (synapses), especially in areas tied to memory and emotion. These firings can be tied to experiencing a pleasant dream or nightmares that are very real.

• It processes unresolved thoughts, feelings, and experiences from your day in an attempt to “organize” emotional information, especially stress or conflict.

This involuntary activity means your dreams often mirror what is affecting you—whether you’re consciously aware of it or not.

o Keeping a simple dream journal can reveal patterns over time. Dreams are sometimes hard to recall, especially after the day begins and life takes over.
